Do you find the Christmas shows on Suspense Radio interesting? Think back to how Franklin D. Roosevelt spent Christmas Eve. This holiday party is both fun and sweet, and it really brings back the feel of the Golden Age of Radio. 

The harbor at Cold Spring Spring: 

On November 30, the North Shore Holiday House will have a Holiday Sip & Stroll. A separate, non-profit group has given free events to more than 200 kids from low-income Long Island areas over the summer. You can enjoy sweets, music, and tasty treats as you walk around the lovely Cold Spring Harbor neighborhood. 

John Harrison and Huntington: 

The Huntington Historical Society is holding a Holiday Historic House Tour on December 3, so mark your calendars. This year’s theme is “Highlights of Historic Huntington,” and five lovely homes are shown. The Ketewamoke Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution runs one of the places. You’ll visit the Huntington Buffet House, the Fort Hill Estate, two homes in Huntington Bay, and one home in Cold Spring Harbor on this trip.

Check out the most beautiful old houses on Long Island as they get ready for the holidays and hold parties all through the season. 

Beginning in November, the gardening team at Old Westbury Gardens puts up beautiful Christmas decorations in every historic room on the estate. A lot of people come to the grounds in the summer to see the beautiful flower fields. Everything looks beautiful right now, from the topiaries and trees and flowers on the wall to the front door. This magic comes to life every weekend from November 24 to December 23. 

Everyone can enjoy drinks and sweets like cookies, and Santa Claus will be there. On Sundays, kids can make cards, and on Saturdays, they can do their favorite holiday projects. All of these events start at 10 a.m. From now until 1:00 p.m. 

Everyone else has to pay $12 to get in, but seniors only have to pay $10. Kids ages 7 to 17 get in for $7, and kids under 6 get in for free. 

There are also a lot of workshops and trips planned for this month. There are classes for making Christmas wreaths that are only open to adults some days during the week, and guests can also go on a Cream Tea and Tour. Both the Tea Tour and these classes need to be signed up for ahead of time. 

Historic estates and museums across Long Island offering holiday tours this season

People can visit Long Island’s old houses around Christmas time to enjoy their classic look and lovely decorations. Even though the year is almost over, you can still take tours of these famous places and ask them about their interesting past or what’s coming up. 

Every estate, from the grand Vanderbilt Mansion to the fancy halls of Old Westbury Gardens, is decorated for the holidays with lovely Christmas trees, flowers that smell good, and lights that sparkle. Look around in the fancy rooms that are dressed for the holidays and remember the good times. 

The holidays are a great time to visit these historic places, whether you want to relax in the well-kept parks or look around the beautiful insides. Adults enjoy Christmas treats and parties, but kids may be most excited to see Santa Claus.

Festive Holiday House Tours on Long Island

You can enjoy the sights and smells of the holiday season in these lovely Long Island spots. 

Every year at the Maple Lane Complex, the Southold Historical Museum has a great event called the Candlelight Tour and Tree Lighting. People in the area know a lot about this event. It has beautiful holiday lights, holiday music, historical displays, and things for kids to do. Take advantage of the chance to see Santa in the barn! You are welcome to come for free, but gifts are welcome. 55200 Main Road is the address in Southold. It’s 3 p.m. on November 24. 

From November 24 to 26th, East Hampton Gardens will have a Christmas open house. On November 25, Christmas will come out of nowhere at 12 p.m. You can enjoy hot chocolate, cider, and sweets while looking at our huge selection of fresh trees, gifts, and holiday decor. East Hampton Gardens is at 16 Gingerbread Lane in East Hampton. 

You and one of our trained docents can walk through the beautifully decorated Manor House while they put on “Once Upon a Christmas,” a show featuring well-known Christmas songs, books, and movies. Sagtikos Manor is at 677 West Montauk Highway in Bay Shore. When: December 2 and 3, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 

Holiday Candlelight Tours: Take a trip back in time and enjoy Oyster Bay’s winter holiday traditions that date back more than 250 years. Our tour guide will be dressed for the season and talk about how Christmas practices have changed over time, from the 18th century, when things were more fancy, to the present day. This Museum is in Oyster Bay and can be found at 30 West Main Street. When: from 5 to 6 p.m. between December 15 and December 17. 

Home for the Holidays is held every year at the Planting Fields Arboretum. It’s a great way to enjoy the season with your family. The Coe Hall at Planting Fields Arboretum is filled with nature and holiday-themed things that you can use to learn about holiday magic. You can do a lot of things, like play games, do projects, and listen to live Christmas music. The Address of Coe Hall is 1395 Planting Fields Road, Oyster Bay. It is in the Planting Fields Arboretum. The dates are December 15th through 16th. 

Preservation Long Island’s Historic Houses Open for Tours through October 2023

All three of Preservation Long Island’s historic homes in Suffolk County are finally open for the season, which runs until October 2023. It’s been three years—goodThis is good news from Preservation Long Island. Museum Educators and trained volunteers will lead new tours and ensure that each house preserves great examples of early American building and design. They will also tell the stories of the people who lived on Long Island and were connected to these sites. 

“The historic properties that Preservation Long Island protects have deep roots in the communities on Long Island and bring in a wide range of visitors,” says Elizabeth Abrams, Assistant Director of Operations and Programs at Preservation Long Island. We’re really excited about our new self-guided and guided tour choices. Each one is based on a different theme that has to do with the history of our places. 

The Director of Education and Engagement at Preservation Long Island, Andrew Charles, said, “Our teachers don’t just lecture; they use question-based interpretation techniques to help students understand the past in a meaningful way.” “A powerful tour should not only explain the site’s larger significance but also make people feel something personal about its history and make connections between the past and the present.”

Is Long Island very wealthy?

Who owns the most expensive house on Long Island?

Built in 2003, Fair Field is a large private house in the Hamptons, Long Island, in New York State in the United States. The main house is approximately 64,000 sq ft (5,900 m2), and the total floor area is 110,000 sq ft. It is valued between $267 to $500 million for tax purposes. It is owned by Ira Rennert.

The housing market on Long Island changed a great deal. Now, ten of the most pricey homes are in Suffolk County. Homes on the North Shore of the island are known for being very expensive, but homes in Suffolk were the most expensive.

Jonathan Miller, CEO of the Manhattan-based valuation firm Miller Samuel, said that the pandemic had a big impact on real estate trends and the way that expensive houses were valued. He said that over the last ten years, house prices have been going up, which means that the richest people are getting richer.

Why are houses on Long Island so expensive?

The number of homes for sale year over year continues to decline across the Island. With interest rates steadily climbing over the past two years, inventory levels have remained low, in part resulting in higher prices.

The COVID-19 outbreak impacted the record-high real estate prices set on Long Island last year. This year, prices have only gone down a little while interest rates have gone up. A gap between supply and demand has made the problem worse and caused prices to rise in a very pricey real estate market. 

A poll by Douglas Elliman, a real estate company in New York City, and Miller Samuel, an appraisal business, found that between 2012 and 2022, the average price of a home on Long Island (not including the East End) went up by 66%. There were 600,000 homes sold in this area last year. 

It was the end of May, and there were less than 5,000 homes for sale in Nassau and Suffolk counties. OneKey MLS data shows that, on average, there have been about four times as many homes for sale over the last 35 years, which is a big change from the current number.
