Do you have to pay for Dillon Beach?

Dillon Beach sits at the northernmost point of the Marin County coastline. The public beach can be accessed by car (note: there’s a $10 parking fee).

Dillon Beach was the perfect weekend break for our family of five because it was close to our home in Oakland and had activities that everyone could enjoy. It was a great time to enjoy my father-in-law’s 70th birthday.

Like the more popular Point Reyes National Seashore, the beautiful Tomales Bay coast to the south, or Bodega Bay to the north, Dillon Beach has yet to be explored as much. State or city park systems run most beaches in Northern California, which makes them less well known. This beach, on the other hand, is privately run and open to everyone.

You can easily get to Dillon Beach by car, though parking costs $10. It is hidden at the northernmost point of the coast of Marin County. In the town, newer homes are built on hillsides with stunning views of the wild coastline and northern Tomales Bay. Along the beach access, a charming group of older homes can be found.

Even though Dillon Beach could have a better image, swimmers and surfers love it for its wide sandy shores and mild currents, which bring in tourists. Adults must wear wetsuits, though, because the water in the ocean is usually very cold. Not only is the beach a great place for picnics, but dogs are also welcome, so families with little kids can enjoy playing in the water. But food needs to be kept out of reach of interested dogs.

People who like to take risks can walk along the beach to Lawson’s Landing, and exploring the dunes will reveal tracks that you can follow. Beyond the beach shore, Dillon Beach has a lot of other interesting things to offer, like fishing, clamming, and camping.

Does Dillon Beach get crowded?

Dillon Beach in Marin County is a long, flat, gently sloping stretch of sand. It’s seldom crowded except during the weekends or on holidays.

Dillon Beach is a long, flat strip of sand that slowly sinks into the water. It’s in Marin County. Most of the time, it’s quiet, but on weekends and holidays, it gets busy but still feels peaceful. The best views are undoubtedly to the west, past the Point Reyes peninsula, and out to the big ocean.

Dillon Beach is in northern Marin County, which is a long way for people in the San Francisco Bay area to get to.

People come to Dillon Beach because it is simple and offers a chance to unwind and connect with nature. Some popular things to do for fun are fishing, flying kites, and taking long walks on the beach.

If you have a valid California saltwater fishing ticket, you can go clam digging if you want to try something new. On the Lawson’s Landing website, there is a helpful guide on how to claim.

There is an easy-to-reach grocery store and diner nearby in case you get hungry.

Near the coast, tourists often see sea lions, jellyfish, and groups of happy dolphins. At low tide, when the tidepools are at their most beautiful, the area is even more lovely. The beautiful scenery around Dillon Beach makes it a great place for photography. While you’re taking selfies or pictures that would look good on Instagram, remember to snap pictures of the pirate statue right below the store that looks out over the beach.

How is Dillon Beach private?

Dillon Beach is a mile long, privately-owned beach in Marin County, California. While it is privately owned by the Dillion Beach Resort, it is open to the public for a small fee. Considered a hidden gem, Dillon Beach is perched on the Northern Californian Pacific coast, set between ranches and rolling hillside.

The Dillon Beach Resort is located at 1 Beach Avenue, Dillon Beach, California, 94929, a good spot in Marin County. It is about 3.25 miles west of Tomales and tucked between beautiful Tomales Bay and Bodega Bay.

A one-of-a-kind beach in Northern California, Dillon Beach is the only privately owned beach in the area. The resort takes great care of the beach and makes sure it has all the amenities tourists need to feel comfortable.

The beach parking lot on the north end has a $10 fee, but people who park there frequently can buy a yearly pass.

Picnic tables and fire pits make the Dillon Beach Resort experience better by giving guests beautiful places to relax and get together. There are no showers, but there are bathrooms nearby for your comfort.

Dillon Beach is known for having rules that are good for dogs. They let “non-aggressive dogs” run free. Dog owners are asked to clean up after their pets so that everyone can enjoy the beach’s perfect environment.

Is Dillon Beach worth visiting?

Dillon beach is like old California: small town, surrounded by beautiful rural areas, with great beach and you can see and hear the ocean from almost every place in town. Go expecting only to take walks and hang out/swim in the ocean, hike in Pt. Reyes, and get away from people. It’s a great place.

To get back, you follow the same path, going through Point Reyes Station and then Highway 1 along the beautiful Tomales Bay. This is the way to get around Point Reyes. When you get to the village of Tomales, turn west toward Dillon Beach. The Dillon Beach Resort is easy to spot as you drive into town because it has a big sign that says “Dillon Beach Resort.” Are you getting there earlier? You can have fun at the beach until your room is ready. Most of the time, check-in starts at 4 pm.

The carefree beach life can be found at the Dillon Beach Resort, which a family runs. Its lodgings are very different from each other because they are mostly cute little houses. The Cypress Cottages are 265 square feet and can fit two people. The Coastal Cabins are 800 square feet and have two bedrooms so that they can fit up to six people. I was very happy with the comfort, cleanliness, and great location of Dillon Beach Resort when I booked the Cypress Cottage for my vacation with my daughter.

The Cypress Cottage has a queen-sized bed in the loft, a bathroom with a shower only, a small kitchen with a gas stove, and a cozy living room. Pets can also enjoy a small patio with chairs and a table and a side yard with a water dish, hooks, and a hose. You can walk to the beach in just one or two minutes, and there are plenty of parking spots nearby.

The resort at Dillon Beach is the community’s center, even though most of the people who live there don’t go out to eat or shop. The resort has a General Store with locally made goods, grab-and-go meals, drinks, and other necessities. It also has Coastal Kitchen, a restaurant known for its great service and tasty food. Coastal Kitchen also does takeout, which we really enjoyed on our first night there, for people who’d rather eat at the beach or in their cabin.

How cold is the water at Dillon Beach?

Dillon Beach sea temperatures peak in the range 13 to 17°C (55 to 63°F) on around the 3rd of September and are at their coldest on about the 7th of April, in the range 10 to 14°C (50 to 57°F).

Most of the time, the warmest water at Dillon Beach is between 13°C and 17°C (55°F and 63°F) around September 3. The coldest they get is around April 7, when temperatures range from 10 to 14°C (50 to 57°F). A 5/3mm wetsuit might be more comfortable for longer sessions and days when it’s cold and windy, but for the warmest half of September, you should wear a 4/3mm wetsuit with 3mm boots. But in early April, when the water is cooler, you need a 5/4mm or 5/3mm high-quality wetsuit, along with neoprene gloves and 3mm boots, to stay warm. Also, it’s smart to wear a hood when it’s cold or windy outside.

The average temperatures of the open ocean might not match up with the temperatures of the water near Dillon Beach. These changes can be caused by things like long periods of strong offshore winds, being close to a river mouth, and heavy rains. When winds are blowing from the ocean, warmer surface water may be replaced by colder deep water. If you want to go surfing at Dillon Beach, you should think about more than just the water temperature. It would help if you also thought about the air temperature, wind chill, and sunshine. For more accurate information, look at detailed weather forecasts from sources you can trust.
